Taking Advantage of the Summer - why we find it easier to exercise and eat more healthily during the warmer months.
The days are longer, the temperatures are hotter - meaning that we're all desperate to get outside and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts! As opposed to the winter months, when we're finishing work in the dark and cold, and hurrying home to cook our go-to fatty/carb-loaded comfort food, we can make the most of those wonderful summer evenings by doing some outdoor activities, like jogging in the park, cycling, taking the dog for a walk, or playing sports with family and friends. It's the time of year when we crave cooler, lighter, fresher options of food and drinks, so it's the perfect time to enjoy healthier summer foods, like salads, fresh seasonal fruit and veg, grilled meats - and of course, delicious Isagenix shakes and snacks! We naturally tend to drink more water, too, because our bodies tend to use more water in the summer. This not only helps to flush toxins from the body and keep kidneys in check, it also assists with weight loss - as it helps us feel more full and keeps us hydrated, thus helping us to minimise excess calorie intake. In the winter, there's always an excuse not to exercise - it's just too damn cold to be outside unless there's mulled wine involved, and the dark nights can play havoc with our moods, making exercise feel like much more of a chore than an enjoyable activity. Getting up early to exercise before work when there's still over an hour of utter darkness until sunrise seems like complete insanity.
In the summer, we're exposed to more warmth and sunlight, so we reap the benefits of our bodies producing more vitamin D - and in turn we feel happier and more positive, and totally capable of busting through our fitness routine! Well, almost :-)
